Travelling west from the Alberta prairies toward the Rocky Mountains can take you through some spectacular scenery. The landscape seems to rise slowly at first, and then, almost before you realize it, you’re at a much higher elevation.

The boreal forest gradually gives way to larches and alpine landscapes, and before long, the trees and mountains are covered in snow. I love that transition; the way the landscape changes as you climb higher into the Rockies.

Edge of the Rockies is really about that journey from the open prairie into the mountains and the dramatic change in the landscape along the way.
