Evergreen Park Aspen Series: Exploring The Parkland

For many years, I have walked the paths of Evergreen Park, returning to the same places and seeing them differently with each season, each walk, and each change in light. This series of four paintings grows directly from those experiences.

In these paintings, I am drawn to the way light filters through the clusters of aspens—breaking apart, shifting, and illuminating small passages within the forest. The well-worn paths become an important part of the work: traces of the countless lives that move through this landscape, from coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, black bears, and elk to the people who walk these trails.

Rather than simply depicting the trees, these paintings are my way of remembering and interpreting a landscape I have come to know through repeated walks. The aspens, filtered light, and paths become a visual record of time, movement, and my continuing relationship with this place.
