Description

20X16 acrylic on canvas, framed
The Old Hiking Trail is one of my favourite places. For years, it was part of my daily routine, walking the trail with my dog Maggie. There was always something to see. The wildlife was abundant, from squirrels, blue jays, rabbits and coyotes to the larger animals like elk, moose and, occasionally, bear.
What I really wanted to capture in this painting was the feeling of walking along that well-worn path, with the dense brush on either side and the light filtering through the trees ahead. You never quite knew what you might come across around the next corner.
I would often meet up with people from PARDS — Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society — who also used the trail. Over the years, the trail became more than just a place to walk. It became a place filled with memories, wildlife and quiet moments that I still enjoy coming back to.
